“When it comes to protecting our planet, we treat it as an urgent matter and we firmly support all forms of environmental protection.”

—Kevin Chiu, The Founder of Orolay

Fibers & Materials

As a clothing brand, we care deeply about Mother Nature and are keenly aware of the environmental damage pollutants have caused, and have led to animal extinction over the years. We believe protecting our environment is important to every community and individual. At Orolay, we aim to form a closed-loop industrial supply chain starting with choosing eco-friendly fibers and materials for our line of products. We follow four aspects when it comes to choosing fibers and materials: renewable, recyclable, highly degradable, and animal friendly.

The Responsible Down Standard (RDS)

Since 2021, all Orolay down jackets use down that meets the Responsible Down Standard. In 2022, Orolay proudly became certified as a brand under the Responsible Down Standard (RDS). We’re proud to join this community along with other global brands in ensuring that down and feathers don’t cause our planet unnecessary harm. The RDS respects the welfare of birds and geese, from hatching to slaughter, and prohibits any removal of down or feathers from live birds (live-plucking or molt-harvesting). Learn more about RDS.

Recycled Nylon

To eliminate waste and protect our environment, we have produced products that strictly adhere to the 3Rs of recycling: reduce, reuse, and recycle. In this particular series, we employed 310T Matte Recycled Nylon fabric. 310T Matte Recycled Nylon is 100% recycled Nylon that comes from recycled fishing nets. It fulfills the required Global Recycled Standard (GRS). Global Recycled Standard applies to all products containing at least 20% recycled materials. Companies involved throughout our entire supply chain, including suppliers of semi-finished products, must meet the standards required by GRS certification. (Polyester, Nylon (Ocean Recycled, Ocean-Friendly Fabric), Acrylic, etc.)

Sorona

Different from the regular down jacket, we developed jackets with eco-friendly Sorona® filler. Sorona® is an innovative fabric that offers high-performance qualities and impressive environmental benefits, making it a sustainable choice for those who care about protecting the planet.
Sorona® polymer is made from 37% natural, renewable resources instead of petrochemical raw materials. It uses 30% less energy than nylon polymers that rely on petrochemical raw materials. This means we can reduce our dependence on non-renewable resources and help protect the planet. Moreover, Sorona® emits 63% less carbon dioxide than nylon polymers made with petrochemical raw materials. By choosing Sorona®, we can reduce our energy consumption and lower our carbon footprint.

Our commitment to the future

In the future, we want to expand our selection of fibers and materials. We hope to incorporate more environment-friendly fibers and materials in production. In doing so, we are launching ”Earthugger“, a collection that features our sustainability products, made from eco-friendly materials. We are open to collaborating with NGOs, and we are dedicated to giving back to our community. At Orolay, we are not only committed to environmental protection ourselves but also committed to helping our supply chain to make an impact. Our ultimate goal in environmental protection is to protect our planet and natural sources and leave a healthy planet for future generations. At Orolay, we embrace our beloved including our mother nature.
