Finding Balance: Tips for Busy Moms

Being a mom is a rewarding, yet demanding, role, and these days finding balance can often feel like an uphill battle - especially for moms with kids under 10 years of age.

One of the best ways to manage one's time effectively is by creating a daily schedule that includes day-to-day responsibilities alongside some much-needed "me time." We suggest taking things slow by prioritizing your most utmost important tasks first and setting realistic goals to help you stay organized and reduce stress. After all, no one can do it all, and you shouldn't try to! This is what smartphones are for, so use your calendar to block out mandatory "do-not-disturb" time vs. scribbled Post-It notes (or worse yet - frazzled text messages!)

For those who need extra empathy, join a support group, either online or in-person! Psychology Today has a great list here - and it can provide a sense of community and a place to share experiences. These groups can offer valuable advice, and practical tips for managing day-to-day challenges. Reddit also has a great parents channel.

Additionally, don't hesitate to delegate tasks when possible. Whether it's asking your partner to help with household chores or arranging playdates to give yourself a break, sharing the load can make a big difference. We realize this isn't always available for everyone, but don't be afraid to ask for help because it does take a village - as well as friends, neighbors, and colleagues!

Many top global corporations also have BRGs (Business Resource Groups) and ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) dedicated to support working parents. If your employer doesn't have one, what better time to start one with fellow working mothers and fathers looking to exchange ideas? We suggest checking out this Top 50 list here for some of the best organizations to emulate - no matter how small your group or employer!

When it comes to self-care, even small acts can have a significant impact. Taking a few minutes each day to relax with a cup of tea - we're obsessed with Palais de The's Tahitian Rooibois! - can do wonders!

Also, even though our eyes are woefully geared to self-induced smartphone myopia, reading an actual PRINTED book - even for just 20 minutes a night - can help recharge your batteries.

How many moms regularly have their children dressed in proper weather gear, but they themselves are woefully unprepared? For unpredictable weather days, especially in tropical storm-prone September and October - (looking at you Northeast Corridor) - Orolay's versatile trench coats can keep you dry and stylish while you're on the go. There's nothing worse than getting caught in the rain so always have an extra coat on hand in your car, or a place of easy access when you're rushing the kids out the door!

Remember, taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of your family!
